I have a ton of old solderless connectors in a divider tray and they have worked great for years and it just takes a little bit of electrical tape afterwards or a small piece of shrinktube to protect the connections from the elements. This set takes that process and just improves on it by integrating some marine grade (aka has a glue lier) shrink tube into the actual connector. The ratcheting crimper gives you plenty of leverage but I was concerned that the action of crimping would cut/break the heatshrink tube. I have used it on about a dozen wires and the crimper doesn't cut all the way through the insulation and it actually sort of re-heals itself when you put some heat on it to shrink it down.Also, the organization box is a handy way of keeping everything together so it doesn't get lost.

I'm a car guy who does a lot of modifications to vehicles. This often involves adding electrical accessories, which requires using electrical connectors. I typically use traditional connectors which I crimp with my old style crimper which sort of damages the whole thing. I then usually solder it too, and then heat shrink the connection. I'm hoping that this kit will make it easier for my, as the crimps are a different style where the connection is just smashed, not damaged. And the connectors look nice with the heat shrink sealing built into them, which will save me another step. On the connectors that I use now, the plastic part is usually destroyed when I crimp (if I crimp with it on) or the connector is so mangled after crimping, the plastic part won't slide back on. I'm definitely looking forward to using this new setup. The ratcheting crimpers included with this kit are quite nice. They are sturdy and seem to be well built. There are color coded slots showing you where to put the type/size of connector that you are using. There is a nice selection of parts that come with this kit, and everything is arranged nicely in a very sturdy case.

Hubby here, installing new stereo in car, so these came in handy. Nice solid plastic box keeps everything secure, individual trays that can be removed and taken to work area was a bonus. Foam securely holds crimping tool in place and is colour coded to wire size, making sure you get a good clamp down each time.

Let's get the obvious out of the way, as part of Vine, I didn't have to pay for this, but I am honest thinking as if I did. Paying this price for a kit like this would not be an easy decision and I would take some time thinking about it and reading a lot of reviews.I have bought a number of ring terminal with heat shrink kits and have seen some varying quality. I have only had cheap crimpers and wanted a better one. This kit comes in a nice case and everything is packaged nice in the individual containers. The crimp part on these seems to be reasonably thick metal and is in the middle from what I have seen from my various kits purchased before. Seen some thicker, but certainly some thinner ones.I used some 16 gauge wire on the red terminals for a test and the crimp tool did a good job and a good pull on them didn't phase the connection. Using the smaller 300w heat gun might not be the best thing as it did take a while to get the heat shrink to melt, but seems to make a good seal. I felt I have seen a little better on the heat shrink side before, but these certainly seemed to do a good job. I didn't dunk them in water or anything, but certainly good for my uses.All in all, I thought this kit was a good one for the price. Everything was good quality and seemed to perform well. I have happy I have a good pair of crimpers for these insulated style connectors finally. The kit packaging is really nice and will certainly use it even after I use up the connectors.

The crimping tool works perfectly, my only complaint is that they didn't include wire strippers with this kit. After crimping, I am no longer able to pull off the electrical connector, that's how strong this is! The connectors come in 3 colors and 4 sizes. It also has removable storage bins if you don't need the whole kit with you. The case is very solid and allows you to see exactly what you need before you open it. Best of all this is marine grade so that you can use this on your boat or batteries.
