The solar crimper has AWG 14, 12, and 10 positions; the stripper is marked AWG 20-10. Both the cable and contact must match the selected crimp position. Use the strip length specified for the exact contact, not a universal length.

This kit includes cable-preparation and connector-assembly accessories. The separate Solar Connector Crimping Tool is one HX1585 crimper without the stripper, spanners, connector pairs, or organizer.

❓How to Choose

Match the conductor size to the AWG 14, 12, or 10 crimper position. Check the contact's specified conductor range and crimp profile, then verify that the connector seal accepts the cable's outside insulation diameter. Use the connector manufacturer's approved mating components; similar-looking housings do not prove compatibility. Choose the kit when you need the stripper, spanners, connectors, and storage, or the tool-only product when those accessories are already available.

❓How to Use

  1. Safely isolate the PV circuit and follow the equipment and connector manufacturers' instructions. Do not mate or disconnect PV connectors under load.
  2. Prepare any gland, seal, or housing parts that must go onto the cable before crimping. Measure the specified strip length and use the matching marked stripper notch without nicking conductor strands.
  3. Place the matching metal contact in the correct AWG die position and orientation, then insert all conductor strands fully.
  4. Complete the ratchet cycle. Inspect the crimp and check conductor retention as specified by the contact manufacturer before installing it in the housing.
  5. Lock the contact into its matching housing and seat the cable seal. Use the supplied spanners where compatible and follow the connector manufacturer's tightening requirements; the spanners are not torque-measuring tools.
  6. Complete the required retention, polarity, sealing, and electrical checks before returning the circuit to service.
