Check the ignition cable diameter first: this listing supports 8–8.5 mm cable. Follow the cable and terminal manufacturers' strip-length, core-preparation, and crimp requirements. Ratchet adjustment cannot make an incompatible terminal fit the die.

  1. Switch off the engine, allow hot parts to cool, and isolate the ignition system as instructed by the vehicle manufacturer. Never work on a running or energized ignition system.
  2. Confirm cable and terminal compatibility. Prepare any boot and strip the specified length using the matching stripping hole without damaging the ignition-wire core.
  3. Prepare the exposed core exactly as directed by the cable and terminal manufacturers. Position the terminal in the matching single- or dual-crimp jaw section.
  4. Seat the cable and terminal correctly and complete the ratchet cycle. Use the quick-release lever if repositioning is needed.
  5. Inspect the terminal crimp, check retention as specified, and assemble the boot. Complete the cable manufacturer's required electrical checks before returning the ignition system to service.
