❓Why use a 4:1 shrink ratio?

A 4:1 ratio lets the tubing pass over a larger splice or terminal and then recover to approximately one quarter of its starting diameter for a close fit.

❓How to Choose the Right Size

Measure the widest part the tubing must pass over, including the connector or splice. Choose a before-shrink diameter larger than that point, then confirm the nominal recovered diameter is smaller than the cable or joint you want to seal. The 4:1 ratio is especially useful where the joint is much wider than the wire. Choose 54FT for repeat workshop or fleet use and 21FT for occasional repairs.

  1. Disconnect power, clean the cable or joint, and cut the required tubing length.
  2. Slide the tubing over the cable before completing any permanent connection.
  3. Center the tubing over the joint and apply controlled heat, moving from the center toward both ends.
  4. Rotate the assembly so the sleeve recovers evenly and the adhesive seals the edges.
  5. Stop heating when recovery is complete and allow the joint to cool before handling or restoring power.
