HAISSTRONICA · SHOP RAMBLINGS REVIEW

A useful gauge mix—not just a bigger piece count.

Shop Ramblings highlights the sizes in this solder-seal assortment as the reason it stands out. Start with the kit linked in the original review, then check whether the mix matches the wires you actually repair.

What Shop Ramblings values in the kit

In the published video description, the reviewer says he has used this connector type for some time. His standout point is the assortment: more of the sizes he finds useful, rather than a headline count dominated by the smallest sleeves.

Experience is useful; it is not a test certificate. The reviewer also describes an expectation of a sealed, lasting joint. This article does not treat that opinion as proof of a specified immersion rating, vibration rating, or service life.

Check the mix against your repair list

A useful assortment is one with enough correctly sized sleeves for your next jobs. Count the splices by actual conductor size before comparing total pack counts. A larger sleeve is not an upgrade for a smaller wire.

Sleeve color Pictured AWG Before choosing
White 26–24 Match small conductors precisely.
Red 22–18* Confirm the exact sleeve marking.
Green 18–16 Check conductor and jacket fit.
Blue 16–14 Allow for the required overlap.
Yellow 12–10 Verify fit at the larger end.

*These ranges are read from the pictured 340-piece kit, not a universal color code. The current product selector labels red as 22–16 AWG, while the pictured sleeves read 22–18. Confirm the supplied sleeve specification before ordering or using it.

Choose the contents, not only the headline number

The original review link currently selects 340 PCS / 5 AWG Mixed. Other gallery images show different pack counts. Check the selected variant and quantity of each size; do not use another pack's photo as its contents list.

Solder + seal in one heating process

The sleeve combines a central solder ring, heat-shrink insulation, and adhesive end rings. Heating forms the soldered connection and recovers the sealing sleeve. This is a heat-applied solder splice—not a terminal that needs squeezing with a crimper.

1

Isolate and prepare

Disconnect and verify power is off. Select the approved sleeve size and strip to the connector instructions without cutting strands.

2

Center the conductor overlap

Position the prepared conductors under the solder ring, with the end seals over suitable insulation. Keep the joint steady.

3

Watch the solder, not just the tubing

Apply controlled heat as directed until the solder flows into the overlap and the end seals recover. A shrunken sleeve with an unchanged solder ring is not finished. Avoid scorching.

4

Cool, inspect, and support

Let the joint cool without movement. Inspect the soldered overlap and both seals, then perform the checks required for the circuit before returning it to service.

Heating time varies with the tool, distance, conductor, and conditions. A heat gun's air-temperature setting is not the joint temperature. Follow the connector instructions and heat-gun instructions.

What makes the joint sealed—and what still needs checking

Water resistance: inspect both ends

The adhesive ends and intact sleeve are part of the seal. Wrong sizing, damaged insulation, or incomplete heating can leave a leakage path. Do not infer approval for permanent immersion from the word “waterproof.”

Vibration: support the wiring

A soldered splice is not a cable support. Route and secure the harness so repeated bending and pulling are not concentrated at the joint.

Durability: verify the finished installation

Look for proper solder flow, intact insulation, and complete end seals. Use the equipment maker's mechanical and electrical checks. A good-looking sleeve alone does not establish a safe, low-resistance connection.

If the documented connector range, sealing method, and installation requirements fit your job, the assortment gives you several sizes in one case. Choose it for compatible splices—not as a substitute for checking the finished joint.

Auto, marine, or home: check the actual job

Automotive accessories and harness repairs

Check wire size, temperature, movement, and the vehicle maker's repair method. Keep the splice away from unsupported flexing. This is not a general approval for safety-critical or EV high-voltage wiring.

Marine and exposed wiring

Confirm the connector and splice method are permitted for the exact location. Wet exposure, immersion, and cable support are separate requirements; a product photo cannot establish them.

Home electronics and DIY projects

Use only where the equipment instructions and connector ratings allow the splice. Do not treat a solder-seal sleeve as a universal replacement for a listed mains-wiring connector or required enclosure.

Have a suitable heat gun already?

Yes: choose the connector assortment and use your existing tool if its instructions, heat control, and supply are suitable. There is no need to buy another gun simply to match the review.

No heat gun or connectors yet: All-in-One Set

Haisstronica all-in-one case with mini heat gun, solder seal connectors, and heat shrink tubing

Combine a 350W dual-temperature heat gun, solder-seal connectors, and 3:1 heat-shrink tubing. Check the selected bundle's contents and power requirements before ordering.

Bundle piece counts include tubing; they are not directly comparable with a connector-only pack count.
