Applications

Use this kit for high-current battery leads, power inverters, RV and boat wiring, solar battery banks, golf carts, service vehicles and custom heavy-gauge harnesses. The supplied 1AWG/M12 lugs suit connections that require a 1/2-inch stud hole. The crimper can also handle other AWG 8–1/0 lugs purchased separately when their barrel size matches the selected die.

Do not use the supplied lugs on cable other than 1AWG or on studs other than M12/1/2 inch. Do not use the tool for ferrules, open-barrel terminals or connector profiles not designed for hex cable-lug crimping.

How to Choose
  1. Verify the conductor is 1AWG and the terminal stud is M12 or 1/2 inch before using the supplied lugs.
  2. For replacement lugs, match the lug barrel to the cable gauge and choose the corresponding AWG 8–1/0 die mark.
  3. Check that the lug palm, stud hole and barrel dimensions provide adequate clearance for the battery or bus connection.
  4. Use the supplied 3:1 tubing only when it slides over the lug barrel and can recover tightly around the cable insulation.
How to Crimp and Seal
  1. Disconnect all power and remove jewelry before working on battery cables.
  2. Cut the cable square with the included cutter, then strip only enough insulation for the conductor to fill the lug barrel.
  3. Insert the conductor fully into the 1AWG lug and select the die position marked 1.
  4. Center the barrel in the die, keep fingers clear, and close the handles through a complete crimp.
  5. Inspect the crimp and perform a firm pull test. Reject any lug that rotates, slips or shows damaged strands.
  6. Center the heat shrink over the barrel transition and apply controlled, even heat until the tubing recovers and adhesive appears at the edges. Allow it to cool before loading the cable.
Safety & Compatibility
  • Work only on de-energized circuits and protect battery terminals from accidental short circuits.
  • Wear eye protection and keep hands away from the cutter and crimping jaws.
  • Do not use the tool outside AWG 8–1/0 or substitute an incorrect die position.
  • Use the connection only within the cable, lug, equipment and environmental ratings supplied by the system manufacturer.
